Council is calling on the community to drop off their unwanted winter woollies at one of our five library locations to help make someone’s winter a little bit warmer.
Now in its third year, the annual Need a Coat drive makes use of pre-loved garments and smaller items such as beanies, gloves and scarves and passes them on to someone in need. If you need a coat all you have to do is pick one up from the racks at Footscray, Braybrook or West Footscray Libraries, no questions asked.
You can help make someone's winter a bit warmer by donating a coat, jacket, scarf or anything clean and warm!
The coat racks will be on display at Braybrook and Footscray Library from Tuesday 15 June, and at West Footscray Library from Monday 5 July. The warm garments can be left with library staff at any of the five Maribyrnong Libraries branches.
“Our community thrives when we support each other. As we head into the colder months the Need a Coat program is a great way to get behind and support your neighbour.
“I encourage you all to dig into your wardrobes and pull out those coats and jackets that have already served you well – and give them a new life with someone in need.”
