Council provides a variety of cleaning services in the Footscray CBD.

Each day Council staff and contractors sweep streets and footpaths and collect any dumped rubbish.

We high pressure wash Nicholson Street Mall, Chambers Lane and the Byron (Little Saigon) Plaza and surrounds three times each week. We also high pressure wash other CBD laneways on a weekly basis and footpaths are washed at least twice per year.

Illegal graffiti is identified by Council’s Cleansing Unit during their daily rubbish removal tasks. Offensive graffiti is removed within 24 hours by Council while other graffiti is removed regularly as part of our routine program. Graffiti on private land is the responsibility of the landowner and graffiti removal vouchers may be available for eligible residential or commercial properties.

Council also paints murals to deter graffiti as part of our StreetWORKS program, creating inviting murals for the public to enjoy.
