Join us at Yarraville Community Garden to learn how to get the most out of your vegetable garden growing space.

In an ideal world our produce growing spaces would be in full sun and be a lovely big space to grow everything we want- but most veggie plots are not this ideal!

In this workshop you will learn:

  • Which plants cope with different amounts of sun and shade.
  • Which veggies you can keep picking, without taking out the whole plant.
  • Which plants are ideal on the edges or tucked in between other ones.

and so much more!

This workshop is ideal for those of us with limited space to grow food, either a plot in a community garden, a balcony or a small but shady space in a back yard. It's also a great opportunity to check out Yarraville Community Garden!

About the facilitator

Kat Lavers is a small space food production specialist, gardening educator and permaculture designer.

Her work reconnects people with the land, and possibilities, beneath their feet, helping transform postage stamp courtyards into pockets of abundance.

Kat’s urban system The Plummery is a tiny 1/14th acre (280m2) suburban block that pumps out almost all the household’s veggies, herbs, fruit and quail eggs – reaching 450kg of produce in 2020!
