Protected industrial action is currently taking place at Maribyrnong City Council.
Some actions are ongoing, however, they do not impact services or public safety.
Planned 24‑hour stop‑work: Tuesday 5 May 2026
Following the 24‑hour work stoppage yesterday, Tuesday 5 May 2026, all libraries and community centres will be open during usual business hours.
We will provide updates about any further stop-work action when information becomes available.
Ongoing impacts
These impacts apply now and will continue unless the action changes or ends.
Council staff communications and visibility
Some staff may display union campaign messages on:
- clothing or badges
- email signatures or automatic replies
- online meeting backgrounds
- Council vehicles (non‑permanent signage)
Members of the public may be approached by staff to discuss the campaign, in person or online.
Some Council emails or online meetings may include campaign messaging.
