The Victorian Seniors Festival is in full swing across Maribyrnong this month, with local events celebrating positive ageing and the many ways older residents contribute to our vibrant community.

Council is proud to be supporting the Victorian Seniors Festival throughout October, with a range of free and low-cost events on offer for older Victorians to celebrate positive ageing in our community.

From art and poetry, to bingo and books, there is plenty to enjoy throughout the month of October.

City of Maribyrnong Mayor, Cr Pradeep Tiwari, said the festival is a great opportunity to have fun, find new interests and new like-minded friends.

“The Victorian Seniors Festival is a major state-wide festival and we are so pleased to be participating. Whether you are interested in the arts, adventure, fitness or culture – there is something for everyone in Maribyrnong,” he said.

Upcoming highlights include the gentle and mindful movements of Qigong and Tai Chi, a lively afternoon of Drag Bingo, and an intergenerational art walk exploring local murals from Council’s StreetWORKS program.

The Festival also complements Council’s ongoing programs supporting older residents to stay active and socially connected throughout the year – from recreation and lifelong learning to volunteering and community groups.

There’s still plenty of time to get involved and celebrate the spirit of positive ageing before the Festival wraps up at the end of October.
