Refugee Week

We stand #WithRefugees this Refugee Week

From 16 - 22 June 2019, people across Australia will celebrate Refugee Week, which aims to raise awareness about the issues affecting refugees.

In 2005, the City of Maribyrnong officially became a Refugee Welcome Zone when Council made a commitment to welcome refugees into the community.

#WithRefugees is the continuing theme for Refugee Week 2019 in Australia. In 2019 the Refugee Council of Australia brings a fresh focus to celebrating through sharing food and stories from around the world!

A ‘Refugee’ is a person; boy, girl, woman or man. Not a label, but a human being with a beating heart. And the refugee experience can be prolonged. Today there are more refugees than ever, and only by standing together #WithRefugees can we begin to change this.

Visit the Refugee Council of Australia for more information.
