Refugee Week

We stand #WithRefugees this Refugee Week

From 17-23 June, people across Australia will celebrate Refugee Week, which aims to raise awareness about the issues affecting refugees.

In 2005, the City of Maribyrnong officially became a Refugee Welcome Zone when Council made a commitment to welcome refugees into the community.

The theme of this year’s Refugee Week is #WithRefugees. A ‘Refugee’ is a person; boy, girl, woman or man. Not a label, but a human being with a beating heart just like you and me. And the refugee experience can be prolonged. Today there are more refugees than ever, and only by standing together #WithRefugees can we begin to change this.
