Swim Unity is a women's multicultural swimming program emphasising water safety at Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre.

Participants learn essential swimming skills to keep them safe and promote confidence in and around the water.

This exciting program is designed specifically for multicultural women within Maribyrnong and aims for participants to learn life-saving techniques, with a focus on drowning prevention and emergency response - empowering women to become competent swimmers.

The program is free and features:

  • 8-weeks of swimming lessons for multicultural women
  • free access to the pool outside of class times for practice, as well as goggles and swimming cap

Why Swim Unity matters

The program fosters a sense of community among women from diverse backgrounds by combining swimming instruction with cultural exchanges. Participants not only learn life-saving swimming techniques but also engage in a shared experience with others. This approach helps break down cultural barriers, creating a stronger and more connected community.

Swimming lessons have always been offered at Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre for the community, the Swim Unity program recognises the importance of continuing to find opportunities to make water safety education more accessible and culturally relevant.
