ViệtSpeak and Angliss Neighbourhood House have come together to present the inaugural Language in Community Festival, a showcase of cultural exchange, language diversity and community engagement, being held in Seelaf Sqaure, Footscray.
Uniting language communities, artists, educators, advocates and families from across Melbourne, the festival will be a day of performances and activities dedicated to celebrating language diversity and supporting its continuity from generation to generation. Any and every language community is invited to participate.
The Festival will feature a range of artists and performers including Dr Vicki Couzens, a Keerray Woorroong Gunditjmara multimedia artist, Melbourne-based Sin Frontera Mariachi Duo, Angliss All Abilities Choir and dance group, Jollity Bollywood, amongst others. There will also be karaoke, kite and badge making workshops, stalls, and other family friendly activities.
Come and hear languages spoken, sung, exclaimed and shared in Vietnamese, Spanish, Greek, Náhuat, Hindi, Hazaragi and more. All language communities are invited to participate.
