International Day of Play

The United Nations General Assembly has adopted 11 June as the International Day of Play. This global celebration was established to champion and protect children’s right to play. On this day, and throughout the year, adults and decision-makers are asked to invest in children’s right to play, provide more opportunities for play, protect safe and accessible play spaces, respect the voices of play advocates, and support social skill development through play.

This day serves as an important reminder for governments, communities, educators, and families to prioritise play and to ensure that all children have access to safe, inclusive, and stimulating play environments. By protecting time, space, and opportunities for play, we support healthier childhoods and stronger communities.
