TROU Reflections of Self: Performance Night

Sound is a multidisciplinary group exhibition presented by TROU, uniting artists from music, performance, and visual arts to explore sound as both a sensory experience and a core aspect of existence. 

Building on the previous theme of Reflections of Self, this exhibition broadens the conversation, inviting artists and audiences to engage with sounds that influence our surroundings, relationships, and inner worlds. Inspired by Vedantic thought, where sound is considered a fundamental principle of existence, the exhibition views sound not only as a form of expression but as something created through connection and shared presence. 

At the heart of Sound is a live program featuring music and performance, where artists offer sonic interpretations of their experiences and interactions with the world. These live performances are complemented by a curated selection of visual works that transform sound into form, gesture, and image. Together, they craft an immersive environment encouraging audiences to listen, observe, and reflect across multiple mediums. 

By embracing all artistic forms, TROU fosters experimentation and cross-disciplinary dialogue, showcasing the many ways sound can be felt, interpreted, and communicated. The exhibition positions sound as both a personal and collective experience, shaped by interaction, culture, and environment. 

This initiative continues TROU’s dedication to supporting diverse voices and providing platforms for emerging artists in Melbourne’s west.
