Help shape how we allocate funding to services
Published on 03 November 2025
Every year Council prepares a Budget, which guides the delivery of services and facilities for our community – and now you have the chance to share your thoughts on the services that matter most to you.
Council must balance how to spend and prioritise funding across 58 services. This includes providing services and managing 60,000 community assets – like buildings, roads, parks, pools and playgrounds – worth more than $1.5 billion.
Some of these services include youth and library services, community centres, activation and festivals, animal management, parks and open space, transport planning, and the Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre.
Costs to run services and maintain our assets keep going up – so we have to make sure we understand what matters most to the community. By telling us what you want us to prioritise, it will help create a Budget that best meets your needs as a community.
In 2024/25, our Budget supported:
- $661,000 for arts and culture grants
- $255,000 for local community grants
- 25,000 shrubs, ground covers and trees were planted
- 349km of local roads were managed and maintained
- 40 per cent of waste was diverted from landfill
- 4,300m² of new footpaths were constructed
- more than 54,600 customer service requests were managed to assist our community.
“Even sharing the one or two things that matter most to you will help make this Budget preparation process more specific to community needs,” Mayor, Cr Pradeep Tiwari.
Your feedback will help shape the Proposed Annual Budget 2026/27, which the community will get to review and comment on in April 2026.
Share your feedback through a flyer with a tearaway voting slip that will be hitting mailboxes soon – which you can return for free – or online at yourcityyourvoice.com.au/budget
Feedback closes midnight Sunday 14 December.
