There has been a lot of community interest in the proposed future improvements and enhancements and potential for an indoor sports facility at McIvor Reserve in Yarraville, as part of the Master Plan process.

This follows recent engagement to inform the development of a draft master-plan to identify a range of actions needed in light of population growth forecasts to deliver the high quality facilities that will be required to support ongoing recreation and formal sports at this municipal reserve, which attracts visitors from across the City.

More than 1,100 individual residents filled in the online survey, with additional emails, letters and a significant number of questions received after the engagement period closed.

Recognising this continued level of interest, Council will be holding an online forum in early August.

“This is an opportunity for residents to understand more about the master planning process, find out where the project is at and the next steps, and to ask any questions residents might have still have around the potential for an indoor sports facility on the site,” Mayor, Cr Anthony Tran said.

All the information gathered from the community and key findings from engagement will be valuable in the development of the draft masterplan, which will be shared with the community for further feedback towards the end of this year, likely September/October.

After considering additional feedback, Council will make further adjustments to the draft Master Plan as necessary. The final Master Plan will then be considered by Council for adoption. This is expected to be in December this year.
