New lights for Hansen Reserve
Published on 23 October 2025
Significant lighting upgrades have been completed at Hansen Reserve in West Footscray with funding from Council and the Victorian Government.
Hansen Reserve is home to cricket, soccer and AFL teams in West Footscray, and Council has committed to staged improvements to ensure this facility meets the needs of our community into the future.
The Hansen Reserve Master Plan 2018 was developed with our community and refined with further engagement in 2023. Works have included field and playground improvements, new public toilets, a bike skills track and now new lights for all four fields.
In the coming years we will also be looking towards the new pavilion and a skate and social basketball space.
“These lights will modernise the way we play at Hansen Reserve,” said Mayor Cr Pradeep Tiwari.
“Local clubs will be able to keep growing their membership, expanding their sporting programs and supporting the next generation of players in our City, with the ability to play into the evening,” he added.
The new lights are energy efficient, with minimal light spill making them safe for players and the environment.
Council thanks the Victorian Government for its contribution to this $1.06 million project.
