Council secured a Healthy Cities Landcare Grant, through a Landcare Australia and Bupa partnership, to plant 14,000 native plants in our natural areas over the next 12 months.
Native shrubs and trees will be planted by local volunteers at National Tree Day and by our many friends-of groups in Newells Paddock, Cruickshank Park, Stony Creek and beyond.
Our friends-of groups, including Braybrook, Cruickshank Park, Maribyrnong Valley, Newells Paddock and Stony Creek, have a collective membership of more than 500 volunteers who care for natural areas in our community.
As part of our continued collaboration with volunteers we will be working with these groups to support up to four planting days per group during the winter planting season.
This means anyone can come along, get to know the natural areas in their neighbourhood and help plant species that create habitat in our City.
