What types of plastic can I recycle in my kerbside bin?

Empty plastic containers with numbers 1, 2 or 5 in recycling symbol. 

Soft plastics and plastic bags cannot be recycled in your kerbside recycling bin.

Soft plastics can be recycled for free at Moonee Valley Transfer Station. Please visit the Moonee Valley City Council website for more information.

Two Woolworths stores in the City of Maribyrnong have soft plastic drop off:

• 4-6 Anderson street, Yarraville
• 200 Rosamond Road, Maribyrnong

How to cut down on plastic

There are some simple swaps you can make to reduce the amount of plastic in your daily life. Try replacing your takeaway coffees with a reusable cup, using beeswax wraps instead of cling wrap to store your food and invest in a reusable water bottle.
