The Active and Healthy Ageing Community Advisory Committee (AHACAC) provides advice to Council on issues, barriers, and opportunities to promote equality, inclusion, and accessibility.

Council is seeking expressions of interest for membership to its Active and Healthy Ageing Community Advisory Committee.

Purpose
The purpose of the Advisory Committee is to advise Council on the needs and lived experiences of people who identify as members of the active and healthy ageing community in Maribyrnong.
Objectives
The Advisory Committee's objectives include:
- To inform Council on the emerging needs, issues and barriers facing active and healthy ageing people in Maribyrnong.
- To consider and provide advice to Council on key initiatives, programs and best practice options on culturally safe and inclusive actions that address the needs of active and healthy ageing people.
- Contribute advice, insights and perspectives into the development of strategies, plans, policies relevant to the Committee’s focus.
- To support Council’s commitment in promoting and advocating for equality, inclusion, diversity and human rights of active and healthy ageing people within the wider context of the Maribyrnong community.
Frequency of meetings
The Advisory Committee will hold up to four (hybrid) meetings throughout the calendar year. Members are expected to attend each meeting either in person or online.
Membership
The Advisory Committee will comprise:
- Up to three Councillor representatives
- At least one senior Council Officer from Council's Community Life directorate
- Up to 10 community members.
- Up to three representatives from community controlled organisations, agencies or services providers.
