Barkly Village and Clarke Street Park Improvements

We have plans to improve Barkly Village along Barkly Street in West Footscray and create a permanent park at Clarke Street.

Barkly Street Improvements

Conversations with the community in 2022 and 2023 improved our Plans which now include things like new bus stops, accessible parking bays, a pedestrian operated signal crossing, more trees and seating, upgraded bike lanes, and wider footpaths.

The improved streetscape will also encourage slower traffic movement and provide additional space for pedestrians and foliage. These top priorities of respondents during this engagement were: greenery and trees, safer walking, sections of protected bike lanes, and places to sit and relax.

As part of these works we are also building a permanent Clarke Street Park.

Clark Street Park

We're replacing the pop-up park at the corner of Clark Street and Barkly Street in West Footscray with a new permanent park.

The endorsed concept design for Clarke Street Park includes more trees, seating and play equipment.

This project is valued and $300,000 and is supported by $150,000 from the Victorian Government’s Pick My Park Program.

This work is expected to begin in 2027/28.
