Kickstart your Plastic Free July with this Community Launch celebration, full of inspiration, fun and budget friendly ideas!  Celebrate our shared commitment to reducing single-use plastic at this free community event, which demonstrates that your small change, makes a big collective impact.

Come along to join other Maribyrnong residents to be inspired, have fun and reduce costs by signing up to Plastic Free July Maribyrnong 2026!

There is something for everyone, including kid's activities, creative reuse rolling workshops, a showcase of Plastic Free July community-led projects, local climate and sustainability groups, plastic free alternatives, inspiration and snacks.

By attending the event and 'Take the Challenge' (signing up to Plastic Free July) you will go in the chance to win an amazing door prize with items from OZ Harvest, Green Collect, Flags to Bags and more!

This community event will be held inside at Council's Civic Precinct & Community Hub. School holiday fun for all ages, the whole family and friends!

Features include:

• OZ HARVEST - learn how to save money and reduce food waste in your household
• LADY MOHAWKE - trash transformed creative lab - create wearable reclaimed art
• FOOTSCRAY COMMUNITY GARDEN & LEARNING PLACE - on hand with edible seedlings to giveaway. Bring along your black plastic seedling punnets and tubes for them to reuse if you have a stockpile!
• FLAGS TO BAGS - showcase of this wonderful community-led upcycling and reuse project
• GREEN COLLECT - demonstrating their waste collection and circular economy impact locally and beyond
• MARIBYRNONG LIBRARY OF THINGS - did you know Maribyrnong have a Library of Things? Find out what you can borrow!
• ANGLISS NEIGHBOURHOOD HOUSE TOY LIBRARY & REPAIR CAFE - showcasing the toys members can borrow and promoting their new repair cafe.
• TOT HOT OR NOT - Join local mum, sustainability advocate and Tot Hot or Not founder Joyce Watts for a sustainable party.
