This weekend the City of Maribyrnong will be celebrating the beloved Western Bulldogs playing in the AFL Grand Final.

With tomorrow – Friday 24 September – a state-wide public holiday for Victoria:

  • Our Customer Service Staff will be enjoying the day off, and phone enquiries will be directed to our after-hours service.
  • All kerbside waste collection services will still be collected as usual, and scheduled hard waste collections will continue as per bookings.

To support the health and safety of the community, and reduce the risk of potential public gatherings, Council has been advised VU Whitten Oval will be temporarily closed to the public from 6pm Saturday 25 September to 7am Monday 27 September.

Signage has been erected to advise users of the temporary changes. There are open spaces nearby that can still be accessed over the weekend for outdoor physical activity, including Shorten Reserve and the Martin Reserve Dog Park.

When out and about enjoying the sunshine over the weekend, remember to follow the Department of Health’s rules around COVID-19 – wear a mask, social distance, and check-in to playgrounds using the QR codes.

Go Doggies!
