Council wants to know how we can engage better with our community, as part of a review of the Community Engagement Policy.
Community engagement is how Council listens to you and uses your ideas to help make decisions about our City. We’ve drafted a new four-year Community Engagement Policy based on our first round of engagement in August and September 2025 and internal staff feedback.
“We want to make sure we listen openly and fairly, and that everyone in our community has the opportunity be heard,” Mayor, Cr Mohamed Semra said.
“We also want engagement to be easy, welcoming, and more fun, so it’s something you want to take part in.”
There are many ways Council already engages with our community, but we want to know what you like best. It could be:
in-depth conversations
quick surveys and polls
chats at events
fun, hands-on activities
Updates we’ve made to the previous policy includes clear definitions so everyone knows exactly what community engagement is, better explanations on how your feedback is used, and an overview of our engagement process, so you know what to expect at every level of engagement.
To make things easier to understand, we have also prepared an Easy Read version of the draft Policy, to make complex information easy to understand.
You can also take the first step to stay connected and involved, by joining nearly 6,000 people on our online engagement platform, Your City Your Voice.
Share your thoughts on the draft Policy by midnight Sunday 19 April 2026.
