Council will move ahead with new leasing arrangements with the Western Bulldogs for the Bulldogs Community Children’s Centre, following community feedback on the proposed lease terms.

A community survey received 157 responses, with almost two thirds in favour of a 10-year term (compared to a 5-year term), and strong support for the service provider to continue operating as a not-for-profit. Families also shared that they value stability, quality care and continued investment in the centre.

The confirmed key lease terms include:

  • retaining the not-for-profit requirement on any sub-leasing arrangements
  • removing the ‘first right of refusal’ for any future lease
  • establishing a 10-year lease term, including a requirement for capital works and upgrades.

Community feedback played an important role in shaping the final lease terms. The 10-year lease provides greater certainty for families while supporting ongoing improvements to the facility over time.
