Making the Raleigh Street park permanent for the community

There was overwhelming support to make the Raleigh Street pop-up park permanent when we asked residents in 2022.
Council is now making the park a permanent fixture, and features will include more plants, trees and seating, and new raised lawn areas for our community to gather and relax.
Community feedback said you wanted to keep the basketball half court, the perimeter bike/scooter track and a permanent grassy area. We are doing all of that, as well as play equipment for children aged three to ten, a teen/adult play and gathering area, as well as line marking and colour to provide opportunities for games and activities like hopscotch.
There will be some changes and reconfiguration to the current park, including the extension of park further north. This will create a more logical separation between car park and open space, while maintaining the size of the park at 1,400 square metres.
There will be no loss of car parking spaces or changes to residential access because of this reconfiguration.
“Once completed, the Raleigh Street Park will provide a permanent recreation space that caters to the diverse and growing needs of residents, many of whom do not have private open space or easy access to a local park to meet, exercise, relax and play,” Mayor, Cr Mohamed Semra said.

Feedback from this conversation will be used to finalise the Concept Design, which will be presented to Council later in 2026.
