Next date: Saturday, 21 February 2026 | 02:00 PM
to 03:45 PM
Join Clancy, that Bee Guy, for a hands-on Native Bee Hotel Making class for Children, where you'll learn how to create eco-friendly habitats and gardens for native bees!
Using both recycled and natural materials like PVC pipe and hollow stems, you'll construct your own bee hotel while learning about the best native plants for native bees and pollinators that play a critical role in supporting biodiversity.
Suitable for children aged 7-12 years old, but they must be accompanied by a parent or adult carer.
This event is proudly part of the Maribyrnong Sustainable Living Festival and My Smart Garden. Maribyrnong City Council is a child safe organisation committed to child safety and supporting the best interests of children in all its operations.
Materials are supplied but if you have the following, please feel free to bring:
- brown, dried, hollow stems of bamboo
- flower heads like kangaroo paw, agapanthus
- native reeds
- strips of paper bark
If you have any access or support requirements in order to participate fully (eg. interpreter), please let us know at least two weeks prior to the event and we can help.
Photos will be taken at this event, but there is an option to opt out on the day.
