Councillor Support and Expenses Reports

Maribyrnong City Council is classified as a Category 2 Council as determined by the State Government. Annual allowances for the Mayor and Councillors are determined independently of Council by the Victorian Independent Remuneration Tribunal: https://www.vic.gov.au/allowances-mayors-deputy-mayors-and-councillors.

The level of these annual allowances (from December 2022) are:

• Mayor: $102,650
• Deputy Mayor: $51,325
• Councillors: $31,980

The Local Government Act 2020 requires Council to adopt and maintain a policy in relation to the reimbursement of expenses, and it is Council's policy to make Councillor expenditure public by reporting to Council quarterly.
