Business Needs Survey 2023
In April Council conducted the annual Business Needs Survey (the Survey) which informs the direction of the City's economic development work, and identifies areas of support Council could focus on to assist its business community.
With an increase in respondents from 2022's Survey, some valuable data was gathered with almost 100 businesses taking part.
Below you will find the Summary of the Business Needs Survey for 2023 available for download which highlights the key findings of the Survey as well as some of the data gathered from the Survey.
Participants by suburb
The highest participation rates came from businesses located in Footscray, Yarraville and Seddon. There were no businesses located in Tottenham that took apart in the Survey.
Participants by Industry
Over 20 per cent of business that participated in the Survey were from the accommodation and food services industry, followed closely by the retail trade industry (16.7%) and the professional, scientific and technical services industry (14.4%).
Business Training and Support Needs
The top three areas for training and support identified by respondents were:
- Strategic business planning.
- Sales training and marketing.
- Grant and tender writing.
