This event is part of a program of events for International Day of People with Disabilities (IDPwD) 2025.

Come along to a creative workshop for D/deaf and Disabled folks to explore what authentic self-expression means to you.

In this creative group led by writer Arty Owens, we will work on some writing exercises. We will also discuss disability pride, Crip Time, and how to challenge mainstream ideas about creativity and identity.

You’ll leave with practical tools to bring your whole self into your creative work, and hopefully feel more confident doing so. Writers, artists, performers, and anyone in between are welcome.

This event is open to D/deaf and Disabled creatives. We use a broad definition that includes people who are chronically ill, have a medical condition, experience chronic pain, neurodivergent, mentally ill, physically disabled and more.

If you’re keen to create with more honesty, pride and connection, we look forward to seeing you there.

This is a free event, but RSVP is essential. If you have any access requirements, please call, text or email Haley Zilberberg, Disability Project Officer, at DAPenquiries@maribyrnong.vic.gov.au or 0403 069 790. If possible, please advise of any access requirements at least two weeks before an event.
