Reconciliation Week
National Reconciliation Week (NRW) occurs on the 27 May to 3 June and is a chance for all Australians to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
It is a time for all Australians to reflect on our shared histories and relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation. The week is framed by the anniversaries of two significant milestones in our reconciliation journey - the successful 1967 Referendum (27 May) and the High Court Mabo decision (3 June).
“Be Brave. Make Change” is the theme for Reconciliation Week this year. This is a call out to all Australians to be brave and tackle the unfinished business of Reconciliation so we can make a change that benefits all Australians.
Making change begins with brave actions in our daily lives, whether that be where we work, live, play or socialise.
You can be brave by finding out the truth about our Australian History, by calling out Racism, by being a brave ally, or by purchasing Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander art or products from Indigenous owned business and calling out exploitation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts and cultures in mainstream businesses.
Find out more about the actions you can take to make change.
