The rules of shared paths
- Be considerate of other path users.
- Keep left unless overtaking.
- Ride your bike at an appropriate speed (about 20-25km/h maximum).
- Bike riders must always give way to pedestrians.
- Ring your bell gently, call 'passing' and slow when passing others.
- Move off the path if you are stopping.

Cycling in Maribyrnong is guided by the Maribyrnong Bicycle Strategy (2014).(PDF, 4MB)
The strategy aims to encourage more people to ride and help reduce car dependence. We do this by creating an attractive and inviting environment for all riders, especially for those riding for the first time.
