Community Planting Days

Community planting events enhance our parks and reserves, creating a greener city and providing habitat for native wildlife.

Council, in partnership with Friends of groups, host a number of volunteer community planting events each year. 

During the events we will plant a variety of native plants, shrubs and trees. Volunteers may also assist with weeding, watering, mulching and litter collection.

What you will need

Please bring along a water bottle, a hat, some snacks and remember to wear appropriate clothing and enclosed footwear. Gloves and other tools are typically provided on the day, however you are welcome to bring your own.

Plantings

This year we are planting 14,000 native plants thanks to a grant through a Landcare Australia and Bupa partnership. These will be planted with:

• Friends of Maribyrnong Valley
• Friends of Newells Paddock
• Friends of Stony Creek
• Friends of Cruickshank Park

Registrations

To volunteer at a Community Planting Day we encourage you to pre-register via our online Community Planting Day Registration form.

Those unable to pre-register may register on the day.
