Brighten your day with West Footscray Festival of Colour
Published on 20 February 2018
The much-loved West Footscray Festival of Colours is back for another year on Sunday 25 February, celebrating the diversity and strong community of West Footscray.
Locals and visitors alike will have a ball in the new dedicated Kids Zone with face painting, jumping castle, art activities with Little Art Big Art, circus fun with the Women’s Circus, music with Musical Adventures, dance with Bindu Creative Dance & Yoga, and more.
Rock the afternoon away with local bands Mother and Your Creepy Ex, and Melbourne-based Russian crime band VulgarGrad.
The festival will also feature community market stalls, a silent disco, a not-so-silent roller disco, live entertainment and of course the highlight of the day – the throwing of the colours!
Presented by West Footscray Neighbourhood House and City of Maribyrnong’s Festival City program, the eight-year-old festival has grown from a small gathering in a side street off Barkly St to taking over the whole of Barkly village in 2018.
“There’s so much excitement and enthusiasm building for this year’s Festival of Colours – the local community and traders have really got behind it which is so lovely to see.
“With momentum in full swing, we’re looking forward to sharing a great day with a few thousand of our closest friends! Just don’t forget to wear something you’re happy to have splashed with colour!”
