Maribyrnong City Council is calling on the State Government to invest in a dedicated public transport interchange in Footscray CBD.  This initiative aims to enhance connectivity, support sustainable growth, and improve the overall public transport experience for the community.

The proposed interchange would integrate bus, tram, and train services, providing a seamless and efficient transport hub in the heart of Footscray. Footscray Station is the busiest station outside of the Melbourne CBD and Council believes that a seamless interchange to other modes of public transport are essential to ensuring sustainable growth. This development aligns with Council's commitment to advocating for improved public transport options in Melbourne's west

Council acknowledges the importance of a well-connected transport network in fostering economic development and improving the quality of life for residents. The proposed interchange is expected to alleviate congestion, reduce travel times, and encourage the use of public transport.

City of Maribyrnong Mayor, Cr Pradeep Tiwari noted investing in a dedicated public transport interchange in Footscray CBD is a crucial step towards creating a more connected and sustainable community.

“We urge the State Government to prioritise this project to meet the growing transport needs of our residents."

Council will write to all Members of Parliament, State and Federal, and the Minister for Public and Active Transport requesting urgent action and collaboration to ensure this vital infrastructure project is delivered without delay.
