Council is undertaking annual works to renew the mulch at playgrounds across the municipality to support continued safety for all users.
As part of regular maintenance works, we will be topping up the softfall mulch in various reserves. Softfall mulch, which is sourced from a reputable supplier, is 100% pine and contains no recycled materials, meeting all Australian standards.
The works are scheduled to take place from 3 June and are expected to be completed within six weeks, subject to weather.
City of Maribyrnong Mayor, Cr Cuc Lam said topping up the mulch ensures a ‘safe landing’ for children in the event of a fall from any of the equipment while enjoying our playgrounds.
“By continuously renewing softfall materials sourced from reputable suppliers, we are reinforcing our commitment to providing safe and enjoyable play spaces for all.” Mayor Lam said.
The works at individual playgrounds are anticipated to take between five and eight hours, during which the areas will be closed to the public. This is to ensure public safety while machinery is being used. Signage will be erected to advise visitors in advance.
