The future of the West is here in Maribyrnong, with the State Government announcing work on creating a direct, reliable and faster public transport link to Melbourne Airport, starting in West Footscray this year.

The State Government has also announced a brand new, fully accessible Tottenham Station, to be built on the realigned Sunbury Line, improving local connections and safety.

Mayor, Cr Mohamed Semra has advocated for the redevelopment of Tottenham Station, and Council is pleased to see the State Government responding to our calls for an upgrade.

The new station will include upgraded lighting and a pedestrian underpass, with early designs to be released by the State Government in the coming months and construction to begin next year.

Mayor, Cr Mohamed Semra, said this is a significant step in creating a safer and more liveable Maribyrnong.

“Transport infrastructure hasn’t kept up with growth. As the gateway to the West, Maribyrnong will continue to advocate to the State Government for improved public transport connections and infrastructure,” Mayor Semra said.

“The investment in a new Tottenham Station is an important step to reduce congestion, improve access and mobility, create safer streets, and promote greater equity within Maribyrnong,” Mayor Semra said.
