The City of Maribyrnong’s furriest residents are in for a treat during the biennial Maribyrnong Pet Expo on Sunday 31 March at Coulson Gardens in Maribyrnong.

The Expo will promote responsible pet ownership, including pet registration, microchipping and health education, and will be a fun event for the whole community.

For the first time in 2019, visitors to the Expo will be treated to a free on-site pet portrait of their dog by award-winning photographer Belinda Richards from Frog Dog Studios in Yarraville.

In 2018, Belinda won the coveted title of ‘2018 AIPP Emerging Photographer of the Year’ in acknowledgment of her terrific pet portraiture work.

“My favourite part of photographing dogs is the different personalities you come across. Just like people, no two dogs are the same,” said Belinda.

“I am looking forward to meeting all the new doggo personalities of the inner west at this year’s Pet Expo. Make sure to bring the cheeky ones - they're my favourite!” she added.

The Frog Dog Studio pop up photo booth will run for the entire event however visitors are encouraged to get there as early as they can to ensure they don’t miss out!

Expo visitors can also enjoy carnival rides, jumping castles, face painting, a petting zoo, a reptile display, a LIVE crocodile and food from local food trucks as well as tips and hints on caring for animals. There will also be a competition for ‘Best Dressed Pet’ and ‘Pet/Owner lookalikes” with great prizes to be won!

A word from the Mayor:

“With over 7,000 dogs and 2,000 cats registered in Maribyrnong, it’s clear we love our pets! Our bi-annual Pet Expo is family friendly day celebrating our four legged family members whilst raising awareness of important local pet care issues.

“Come along and find out what you have always wanted to know about your pets at one of the information stalls on animal care and welfare with local veterinarians."
