Young people in Maribyrnong are now able to share their perspectives on issues that impact them, through a dedicated online platform for young people: the Youth Hub.

Council’s Youth Hub offers 12-25 year olds a safe and dedicated space to share ideas and make a difference.

Leveraging Council’s existing Your City Your Voice engagement platform, the Youth Hub is a dedicated space on the existing site that aims to amplify the voices of young people who live, work, study or hang out in our City, and will help to ensure that Council decisions accurately reflect their aspirations.

Young people have been actively engaged in the platform’s development, providing feedback on function and design elements to ensure it is engaging and relevant to their needs.

Funded by the State Government’s Engage Victoria grant, it is hoped that young people will see the Youth Hub as a safe space to have conversations and shape decisions about services and activities they would like to see in the municipality.

City of Maribyrnong Mayor, Cr Pradeep Tiwari, said that a dedicated space for young people to contribute their perspective is a vital addition to Council’s community engagement platforms.

“Young people aged 12-25 have important perspectives on Council services that we can now receive directly through age-appropriate platforms like the Youth Hub. This allows us to shape our programs to meet the diverse needs of the young people who live, work, study and hang out in the City of Maribyrnong,” said Mayor Tiwari.

The Youth Hub went live in March 2025 and is already hosting dynamic contributions from young people about issues that impact them. These include sharing ideas on programs they would like to see in our City, and ideas for school holiday activities.
