Make new public toilet locations your “number one” priority

Council is looking at additional locations to provide new public toilet facilities to enhance and encourage the use of outdoor spaces throughout the municipality.

Since the adoption of the Public Toilet Plan in 2019, Council has delivered – or is in the process of delivering – public toilets in ten locations across the City. This includes:

  • Hansen Reserve (delivered)
  • Grimes Reserve/Footscray Wharf (delivery by June 2025)
  • Cruickshank Park (delivered)
  • Seddon Village (delivered)
  • Yarraville Gardens (delivery by June 2025)
  • Cranwell Park (in planning, to be delivered by December 2025)
  • Quarry Park (to be considered as part of the next Master Plan review)
  • Johnson Reserve (to be delivered as part of future upgrades)
  • Dobson Reserve (to be considered as part of the March 2025 Master Plan review)
  • Robert Barrett Reserve (to be considered as part of the March 2025 Master Plan review)

Our community has, through a variety of conversations with us, highlighted a desire for more or better public toilets and this is an opportunity to be clear where residents feel they would be best placed. We are looking to identify up to ten new locations for additional amenities.

Council is also wanting to understand if a Changing Places facility would be valued at any of these locations. These are larger than standard accessible toilets, with extra features – such as a height adjustable adult change table, tracking hoist system – and more space, to meet the needs of people with disability and their carers.

Our first Changing Places facility is being constructed at Yarraville Gardens.

Community feedback, along with Council’s review of the current Public Toilet Plan, will inform an addendum to the plan, which will be considered by Council for endorsement later in 2025.

Feedback closes midnight Sunday 27 April 2025.
