The upcoming redevelopment of the Footscray Trugo Pavilion is a thoughtful fusion of past and present, with construction expected to begin in late May – honouring the site’s rich heritage while delivering a contemporary, inclusive space that will serve the community for generations to come.

Originally built in 1940, the pavilion will be upgraded to provide a modern, safe, and accessible facility, to reflect the historical significance of Trugo in Melbourne’s west. The design preserves the building’s character, while introducing universal design principles, including gender-neutral amenities and improved accessibility, ensuring Footscray Trugo Club can continue to thrive in a space built for tomorrow.

Council has allocated $1.48 million to the project, which has been in development for a number of years.

“This project supports Council’s commitment to enhance local sporting facilities, promote active lifestyles, and foster social connection within the Maribyrnong community,” Mayor, Cr Pradeep Tiwari said.
