A Vietnamese cultural and heritage centre might be the next draw card to Footscray. This follows the Council meeting on 4 August where an expression of interest to purchase the site at the back of 220 Barkly Street was received from Vietnamese Museum Australia for the purpose of creating a cultural centre.
Our Maribyrnong Tourism Visitation Strategy 2017 highlighted the potential to boost tourism to our City with the development of a Vietnamese cultural and heritage centre in Footscray. This builds on cultural attractions such as the Little Saigon market precinct with the magnificent Welcome Arch, the Quang Minh Temple and authentic Vietnamese cuisine available in Footscray.

Our Maribyrnong Tourism Visitation Strategy 2017 aimed to offer memorable experiences that would boost our local economy and keep visitors coming back for more.
We have received an Expression of Interest from the Vietnamese Museum of Australia to purchase and build a Vietnamese cultural and heritage centre in Footscray and will now enter a public submission process to obtain community feedback, before presenting back to Council for our consideration.
