Balancing future use and preservation of Yarraville Oval is at the heart of a draft  Master Plan, which is now out for community feedback.

Yarraville Oval is used by the community for a wide range of reasons, including sports training and competition, school activities, music sessions, and casual activities like tennis, skating, dog walking, and exercise.

The master planning process has given Council a chance to consider the best use of the limited space. It considers current and future needs of sporting clubs and community groups, as well as the wider community.

In early 2021, we heard from 307 people about their needs and priorities at Yarraville Oval.

Key features of the draft Master Plan include:

  • a reconstruction of the Oval to improve drainage and surface conditions
  • a path around the Oval, with connections to Yarraville West Primary School, Williamstown Road, and Anderson Street
  • landscaping and forecourt improvements
  • restoration of the existing grandstand and an extension of the pavilion
  • tree planting and landscaping in the open space around the Oval
  • a new cricket practice facility to address fragmented training and playing venues.

“The draft Master Plan protects existing sporting needs while strengthening connections across local clubs. A new walking path around the oval will make it even more accessible to the community, while a purpose-built cricket training facility will unite players at their home venue, support player development, and build stronger club and community cohesion,” Mayor, Cr Mohamed Semra said.

We want to hear your feedback on the draft Master Plan, and any comments or questions you might have.

Share your thoughts online or chat to us at one of our in-person events to share your feedback before midnight Sunday 21 June 2026.

Your feedback will help us finalise the Master Plan before we present it to Council for consideration in the second half of 2026.
