A revitalised reserve in the heart of Seddon

Residents of Seddon and surrounds will benefit from a refresh of Harris Reserve thanks to a concept plan endorsed by Council this week.
City of Maribyrnong Mayor, Cr Pradeep Tiwari, said Council is committed to providing green spaces that meet the needs of our community.
“Harris Reserve is a much loved pocket in Seddon and we will be providing updates that reflect conversations with the community,” he said.
In 2021 we began asking the community what they would like to see in the small park before sharing the draft plan for feedback as part of the Seddon Neighbourhood Plan last year.
The endorsed design for Harris Reserve includes a new shelter for picnics and gathering, improved paths, and new plantings. The plan will also see the existing paved area extended, and new seating added, to improve this popular social area in the park.
The concept plan took on feedback from residents to create a space that is safe and welcoming for people of all ages while meeting their needs for play, socialising, relaxation and exercise.
“Listening to your ideas – neighbours, locals and visitors – has allowed us to fine tune this plan and make sure this park reflects the people who use it each day,” Mayor Tiwari added.
The first stages of upgrades are planned for September this year, while the shelter, social area, and possible lighting improvements are subject to future capital funding.
