Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Footscray Park
Published on 15 November 2023
Join us to celebrate New Year's Eve festivities at Footscray Park on Sunday 31 December.
As the sun sets and the clock strikes 9.30pm, the night sky over Footscray Park will come alive with sparkling fireworks, offering families and visitors a chance to revel in the festivities without the late-night city crowds.
After a traditional Welcome to Country ceremony, Cool Out Sun will kick things off with their smooth fusion of soul, funk, and jazz. Next up, The Merindas, a dynamic Indigenous duo, will delight with mesmerising vocals and infectious disco-pop tunes.
The stage will then be rocked by an electrifying performance by popular Australian band, Regurgitator. Fresh off their Crushing It 2023 Tour and a high-energy October performance supporting KISS, their genre-blending music boasts chart-topping hits like Polyester Girl and Happiness.
There will also be roving acts Sway and Indirect Objects, carnival rides, and games to keep the whole family entertained until the grand fireworks display at 9.30pm. Afterwards, enjoy a dose of nostalgia when Yacht Rock Revival transports the crowd back in time with their smooth rock hits of the late '70s and early '80s.
Guiding this unforgettable night will be MC Lizzy Hoo, a celebrated Australian comedian renowned for her unique humour and vibrant performances. With an Amazon Prime stand-up special titled Hoo Cares!? under her belt, Lizzy will keep the laughter rolling as the night unfolds.
Gather the family and pack a picnic, or savour delicious snacks from the array of food trucks. We're dedicated to minimising our environmental impact, so please remember to bring refillable bottles and reusable containers as this is a’ single-use plastic free’ event. While we love our four-legged friends, fireworks can be distressing for dogs, so we also recommend they stay safely at home.
Please note: this is an alcohol-free event, and we encourage the use of public transport. Free shuttle buses will operate between Footscray Train Station and Footscray Park (Eastern Lawn), and accessible parking is available on-site via Maribyrnong Boulevard.
