Game on in Maddern Square

Join us in Maddern Square on Friday 28 November to celebrate the freshly upgraded space with basketball, food and music.

As part of Council’s continued commitment to improving public spaces and community outcomes in Footscray the square has received a bold upgrade, featuring vibrant artwork and a new basketball half-court.

Bold and joyful designs from artist Olana Janfa have been installed as the base of the half-court as well as featuring in light boxes on surrounding buildings, adding light and colour to the space.

Works also included adding new seating, lighting, and skate elements to make the space more inviting and increase foot traffic in the area.

Following the completion of these works we are inviting the community to celebrate from 3-6pm on Friday 28 November.

Game On, Footscray! is a free afternoon of connection, basketball, music and food in the heart of Footscray.

Listen to DJ Konker, hit the court or skate zone, grab a pizza from the Slice Sisters and take in the great new artwork.

Everyone is welcome and the event is presented by Council in partnership with Reclink, Artcourts and our local traders.
