At the June Council meeting, Council resolved to consider new lease terms for the Bulldogs Community Children’s Centre. Council has held a head lease with the Western Bulldogs for the facility since 2009 and we will be consulting with the community on the continuation of that lease and a number of conditions. The proposed lease offers significant long-term benefits to the community. It supports the continued delivery of high-quality early years services, provides security of tenure, and includes a commitment from the Western Bulldogs to invest in capital upgrades to the facility at no cost to Council, which will benefit the children and families that use the centre. The proposed condition will enable some flexibility to the Western Bulldogs that demonstrates the best value and outcomes for local families, while ensuring costs remain affordable and service quality remains high. Council recognises the importance of community input and, in line with the requirements of the Local Government Act 2020, will undertake a formal consultation process, including a 28-day public notice period. All submissions received will be carefully considered before a final decision is made on the proposed lease.
