Temple to Temple Trail comes into vision
Published on 06 February 2018
Maribyrnong City Council’s vision to create a Temple to Temple Trail along the Maribyrnong River is one step closer with the completion of a new 1.2km section from Cranwell Park to the border with City of Brimbank.
When completed, The Temple to Temple Trail will link the Heavenly Queen Temple in Footscray to the Quang Minh Temple in Braybrook following the edge of the Maribyrnong River.
The recent extension is one of the final stages in the Temple to Temple Trail, linking up with another 800 metres of trail connecting Cranwell Park to the pipe bridge near Medway Golf Course which was constructed in 2014/15.
The link between the pipe bridge and the Waterford Green Estate is the final link in the Maribyrnong to Braybrook Section.
It is anticipated that the connection of the Temple to Temple Trail along the Maribyrnong side of the River will occur in the future with the eventual development of the Maribyrnong Defence Site.
A word from the Mayor, Cr Cuc Lam
“This has been a major project for Council staged over the last three years. It represents a milestone in the provision of green infrastructure which encourages people to walk and ride for commuting or recreational purposes, and better connects our community to the Maribyrnong River corridor.
“We encourage our community to use the Trail to experience and enjoy the variety of open spaces along the river, and we thank the Quang Minh Temple for generously permitting the construction of part of the Trail on their land.”
