This October marks three years since the Maribyrnong River Flood in October 2022. We acknowledge that residents may wish to mark this in different ways. For those that wish to come together, the community are invited to attend a series of events scheduled for October 2025, including:
Community stories screening and event
In partnership with Moonee Valley City Council, this community event will feature a screening of the short film series featuring Maribyrnong community stories, as well as live performances from local musicians, river stories tent, free food trucks, kids’ activities and more.
It will also include an artist talk on the Coulson Gardens public artwork, another project designed to capture the experiences of the Maribyrnong community.

We Watched Our River Rise: Children’s book launch
The Maribyrnong community are invited to attend the official launch of the book, We Watched Our River Rise, written by young authors from the Maribyrnong community to capture their stories and experiences. This project was delivered with 100 Story Building and Cohealth.
The community are invited to join and celebrate the young authors and hear about their book.
