Recovery update

Desilting works to remove surface sediments from the Creek have reached Paramount Road and it is likely that further works will be required.
EPA and Melbourne Water will jointly assess the validation data to help determine the next phase of excavation work. Further works will also be guided by advice from specialists in land contamination after test results are finalised.
So far, approximately 1,800 cubic metres of contaminated sediment has been removed from the Creek, which is equivalent to three quarters of an Olympic-size swimming pool.
Stockpiles of contaminated sediment continue to be processed and treated at the fire site ready for disposal at a secure landfill site. It will take roughly three weeks to get through the remaining stockpiles of sediment.
EPA and Melbourne Water will conduct a risk assessment to determine the final stages of clean-up required for Stony Creek between the fire site and Paramount Road.
Heavy rain on Tuesday night caused some odour in West Footscray. Melbourne Water officers inspected pollution containment structures and Creek conditions.
