Apply for a skip bin permit
A skip bin permit must be obtained by a registered skip bin company before the placement of a skip bin on a road or on Council land.
Permit applications must be received by Council at least five business days prior to the start date.
A permit will not be approved without prior inspection/assessment by an authorised officer.
The bin must be fitted with a side marker light. The light must operate effectively and be clearly visible.
The side marker light rule does not apply if the bin is:
- under 1.8 metres wide, or
- has reflecting bands as per Vic Roads code of practice
What are the permit fees?
- $63.60 up to three days
- $34.90 per extra day
- Commercial area - $70.20 per day
The permit fee must be paid within five (5) days upon receipt of the Tax Invoice from Council.
Where can I place a Skip Bin?
- The skip bin must not be placed in No Stopping areas, Clearways, Loading Zones, Bus Zones, driveways, pathways and heavy traffic roads.
- The skip bin must not cause any obstruction on any road or for pedestrians.
- A minimum space left for the traffic to pass must be four (4) metres.
- The waste being collected must not cause any potential health hazard to residents or the environment.
