Government Energy Assistance Programs

With summer on our doorstep, the Bureau of Meteorology has forecast increased chance of extreme heat. This could cause several impacts on households in our community, including heat stress and related health issues. 

Cooling your home in the summer can be a challenge with rising living costs and high energy bills stopping households from keeping the air conditioning running.

Energy Assistance Program

If you're having trouble paying energy bills or are worried about the cost of air conditioning, you can get free help through the Victorian Government's Energy Assistance Program. Through this program, you can:

  • Find a better energy deal
  • Apply energy concessions. Concession card holders can get 17.5% off electricity bills
  • Access energy debt relief
  • Get advice on saving energy and money around the home

$100 Power Saving Bonus

If you have an eligible concession card, your household can claim the Victorian Government's $100 Power Saving Bonus. Eligible concession cards include:

  • Health Care card
  • Pensioner Concession card
  • Veterans’ Affairs Pensioner Concession card
  • Veterans’ Affairs Gold card
