Garage Sale Trail

Garage Sale Trail is one of a number of Council initiatives designed to reduce waste to landfill and provide the community with ways to reuse unwanted items. For shoppers, it is a great opportunity to pick up a bargain and find something unique, all whilst doing your bit for the environment.

In 2025, Maribyrnong hosted a record number of 144 local garage sales. We welcomed 5,284 bargain hunters, and gave 12,171 items a second life, with 36 per cent of those goods saved from landfill. Sellers pocketed $103,617 while shoppers kept an estimated $156,000 in their wallets by choosing second hand.

Those figures show the circular economy at work, turning clutter into cash while cutting waste and creating new neighbourhood connections.

The date for this year's Garage Sale Trail has been set! 

Weekend 1: Saturday 7 November and Sunday 8 November, 2026
Weekend 2: Saturday 14 November and Sunday 15 November, 2026
